After watching the vendor throw it on the grill, top it with all the fixins, and plop fries on the side, we found our place on the lawn to picnic. But after visiting a vegan fest in my area last spring, my husband and I thought we’d try a Beyond cheeseburger for giggles. All Beyond products are made with five key ingredients: protein, found here in the form of peas fats that are less harmful including, cocoa butter, coconut oil, and expeller-pressed canola oil carbs, most often from potato starch and methylcellulose, which is a plant fiber derivative minerals like iron, salt, potassium, and chloride - the same ones we look for in animal meat and natural flavors and colors made from beet juice and apple extract.īeyond's Brat Original and their Hot Italian Style sausage are vegan-approved by the Vegetarian Society, halal certified by the Islamic Services of America, OK Kosher certified, gluten-free, soy-free, and non-GMO. So what's the catch? There isn't a catch per se, but beyond the five core ingredients, there is also less than 1% of vinegar, lemon juice concentrate, paprika extract, spices, pomegranate concentrate, onion powder, psyllium fiber, citric acid, Vitamins B1, B3, B5, B6, B12, and sodium alginate casing (a vegan sausage casing alternative).
